Kate Pratt and Michel Mazuret created EAST HAMPTON GOURMET FOOD in 1996 as an artisanal bakery which supplied baked goods to the east end of Long Island, New York. Shortly thereafter, they boldly ventured into Connecticut and Manhattan plying their wares to the likes of Hayday Markets, Dean and Deluca and Balduccis. The line was well received and a few months later they were filling orders for several large chains of gourmet stores, catalogs and websites, making the cover of Dean and Deluca again & again. Their first Thanksgiving order in 1997 topped 5200 pies, each one which they handcrafted, baked and delivered over the course of three days.
In 2006 they seized a great opportunity to expand their culinary offerings and opened their doors to the public at 66 Newtown Lane, East Hampton, N. Y. Alongside the wholesale operation, the shop offers gourmet prepared salads, soups, sandwiches, entrees, hors d'oeuvres, an entertaining menu and a gourmet market.
They both have extensive backgrounds in food service which makes for a compelling east end food duo. In New York City, Kate successfully managed MANGIA, one of Manhattan's premier gourmet take out/corporate catering and restaurant businesses. She was also one of the head chefs for a large MEDITATION AND YOGA CENTER, where she honed her skills at indian cooking. Michel, a talanted chef formerly of the prestigious CAFE DES ARTISTS, spends his winters travelling to Japan, France and Hawaii in order to perfect the complex cuisine of those countries and bring them back to East Hampton. Together, they form a brilliant partnership that constantly improves upon itself in the kitchen and reflects an appreciation for the cuisine of other cultures. Their uncomplicated approach combines pristine ingredients and healthy whole foods into gourmet, internationally inspired cuisine.
East Hampton Gourmet Food has incomparable offerings and an execution that never fails.
